The most meaningful photographs always tell a story, express personality, but most importantly show the heart of the subject being photographed. Sean and Erika showed their personality and heart with every aspect of their wedding, held in the beautiful landscapes of Pioneertown, California, in the Morongo Basin region of San Bernardino’s High Desert.

Landscape and architecture, when used right, can beautifully compliment personalities, emotion, and even the very sentiment of your special day. A blend of geometric structure and organic beauty provided the perfect canvas for Chuck and Lucia, as they painted their masterpiece that day, declaring their love and commitment before loved ones. With an eye for geometric synergies and a love of form, the goal of the photographer is to capture such in a way that compliments and doesn’t distract… sets the mood without changing the story.
“Why do two colors, put one next to the other, sing? Can one really explain this?” – Pablo Picasso
Sometimes knowing the “why” isn’t as important as recognizing the “what”. Recognizing the harmonies of color is one such thing, allowing the photographer to arrange and capture colors in way that sings to the eyes.

There are countless locations capable of providing a beautiful backdrop for your event, but choosing a place that has personal meaning to you will take the photographic story telling to a higher level, creating images that are uniquely you. Brad and Renee picked a location that meant something special to them and we’re glad they did.

What brings a good story depth is an honest attention to detail, an attention to the subtle beauties of the little things that make up the whole. The shoes, the rings, and everything in between… they all play a part in the magic of the day, and each deserves to be captured in a beautiful way.
Good composition is best created when the photographer pays as much attention to negative space as he does positive. The subject of the photo tells the story, but it’s the space surrounding the subject that often sets the mood. Done properly, the negative space can become just as important as that great musical score filling the best scenes of your favorite movie. A look, a kiss, an embrace, and a smile, such can tell a story well… but capturing the enchanting mood of a special day like this is always the challenge and joy of the photographer.

“Embrace it. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.” -George Eastman
The effective use of natural light can go far beyond the mere illumination of the subject… the early morning rays piercing through the trees on the distant hillside, the warm backlit glow of the tall grass along the knoll, or maybe just a simple flare of light partially eclipsed by the loving embrace of our subjects… this golden gift can fill a photo with a special touch like nothing else. Jeff and Whitney chose to take their vows above the coastal bluffs of Terranea Resort, a perfect setting to take advantage this beautiful gift from above.

“She said nothing with her voice and everything with her caring touch.” ― Dave Cenker
Human interaction, human connection… this is the central theme of every meaningful story. The touch of her hand, the subtle tilt of his head, that warm smile in their eyes… these are the story tellers. Capturing these subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, interactions is how one truly captures the essence of any special event. Try to stage these moments and you’re bound to get nothing but empty imitations, that is, if that’s where you stop. But stand ready for the moments just after and you’re likely to capture something quite special. Expect the unexpected, those surprising expressions and interactions that just happen all on their own. These are those special moments we seek to capture. These are the moments for which we patiently wait… and then '‘click”, just like that, you’ve captured a moment no one expected, the photo that says everything.
